It was perfect weather Friday, October 20th, for Allen’s 2023 “It’s Sweet To Be A Mustang” Homecoming.

The coronation was held at 6:00 pm, prior to the Mustangs 48-12 win over the Savannah Bulldogs. Crowned as the 2023 homecoming queen was the senior candidate, Ava Laden.

Ava is the daughter of Richard and Stacy Laden. She has two sisters, Grace and Lily. She has attended Allen Schools since Pre-K. Ava is a member of the Superintendent’s Honor Roll, she was Masonic Lodge Student of Today, and is a member of the Oklahoma and National Honors Society. She is active in softball, basketball, track, BPA, yearbook, and FCCLA. Ava has won state twice in FCCLA and received first place at Nationals. Ava enjoys playing sports, hanging out with friends and family, and eating at Asahi. After High School, Ava plans on attending Murray State College and pursuing a degree in Physical Therapy.

Escorting Ava was Garrett Nix. Garrett is the son of Chad and Valerie Nix. He has one sister, Kinsey. Garrett has attended Allen Schools since Pre-K. Garrett is a member of the Principal’s Honor Roll and was voted student of the month. Garrett is active in football, basketball, baseball, FFA, and FCCLA. Garrett enjoys hunting, fishing, and hanging out with all his friends. After graduation, Garrett plans on attending trade school and starting a career. Garrett wears number 6 and plays running back and linebacker for the Allen Mustangs football team.

The Junior class representative was Isabel Velazquez. Isabel is the daughter of Jesus and Lidia Velazquez. She has three siblings, Saleen, Armenia and CJ. Isabel has attended Allen Schools for two years and is on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll and was voted student of the month. Isabel is active in cheer and the academic team. She enjoys listening to music and watching movies. Isabel’s future plans are to attend college and work in labs.

Isabel’s escort for the evening was Brendan Linker. Brendan is the son of Zeb and Kimberly Nemecek. He has two siblings, Ricklyn and Daxton. Brendan has attended Allen Schools since Pre-K. Brendan enjoys spending time with Nana and Grandpa. He is a current student at the Pontotoc Technology Center and works in heavy equipment. Brendan wears the number 10 and plays receiver and cornerback for the Allen Mustangs football team.

Representing the sophomore class was Addison Prentice. Addison is the daughter of Derek and Heather Prentice, and has two brothers, Kavet and Kingston and one sister Hannah. She has attended Allen Schools since Pre-K. Addison is a member of the Superintendent’s Honor Roll, she has received student of the month. She is a member of the basketball team, softball team, track, FCCLA and BPA. Addison has won state twice in FCCLA and received 3rd place as an 8th grader and top 10 as a freshman at Nationals. Addison enjoys hanging out with friends and family, playing sports, shopping and listening to Taylor Swift. After graduation, Addison plans to attend college at the University of Oklahoma.

Addison’s escort was Curt Carlos. Curt is the son of Dink and Amber Carlos. He has three siblings, Dalton, Cadence and Cheyenne Carlos. He has attended Allen Schools since his Freshman year. Curt is on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll and was voted student of the month. He is active in football, baseball, and FFA. Curt enjoys hunting, fishing, going to church, hanging out with friends and family, and playing sports. Curt’s future plans are to attend the Pontotoc Technology Center to become a lineman. Curt wears number 9 and plays linebacker for the Allen Mustangs football team.

The Freshman candidate was Lily Laden. Lily is the daughter of Richard and Stacy Laden. She has two sisters, Grace and Ava. She has attended Allen schools since Pre-K. Lily is an active member of the Allen FCCLA chapter. She competed and won 1st place at state and has finished 4th overall at Nationals in interpersonal communications. Lily is a class officer, is on the superintendent’s honor roll, and has been student of the month and student of today. Lily enjoys hanging out with friends and family. She plans on attending college after she graduates and studying
