Allen School Superintendent.

Hello from Allen Public Schools! It is a busy time of year at school and lots has been going on.

I cannot brag enough about our students in the classroom and in their athletic and musical activities as well. We will have the band marching this Saturday at the Chickasaw Festival in Tishomingo and again at the East Central Homecoming on October 27th . We have also had several students competing with their instruments in contests as well.

The HS football teams have transitioned well back into 11-man action and are very competitive. The cheer squads have been dealing with injuries but are maintaining their spirit and the JH football boys have become a tough matchup for anyone they’ve played so far. Fastpitch season ended for the girls against some stiff Regional competition, but they too were a tough matchup all season long and we are proud of them and the #4 ranking in their class.

As everyone can see, construction is moving along at the gymnasium site and the roof should be on for the most part by the end of the week. Site prep and plumbing is already happening at the Elementary and JH sites, with slab already poured at the Elementary. The rains have slowed things a bit, but the progress is picking up again. I appreciate the workers and their diligence and the willingness of the community and staff to put up with the inconveniences that the construction is causing from time to time.

I want to shine a little light on a group that often may get overlooked and that is our staff and support staff. Though we are understaffed with bus drivers, teachers with CDL’s have volunteered to pick up the slack until others can obtain the newly mandated licensure. The new training and rules make these harder to obtain, but are aimed at making buses safer for kids. Right now we have four more staff members completing the license process to add to the ranks soon. Some will become full-time route drivers while others will serve as reserves as need. Time again these folks help out to make things work out and it is much appreciated.
