Allen Public Schools went on lockdown Thursday, January 11th.

At approximately 11:50 a.m. a report was made to a teacher by a student that he had seen what he believed to be a man with a gun around the Allen campus. The teacher immediately notified the school’s Resource Officer and lockdown protocol was initiated. At the time students were at lunch and on the playground.

The teachers took all of students to secure places and authorities were notified. No threat was found on campus. After the campus was secured, the lockdown was lifted.

The Allen Schools’ first priority is always the safety of its students and staff. Several security measures have been added in just the past few years including a full-time School Resource Officer who is commissioned through the Pontotoc County Security Office. The school’s security is continually being evaluated for possible improvements.

Parents were notified as quickly as possible through the communication app “parent square”. If a parent did not get a notification they should contact the student’s school and make sure the contact information is correct. All communication takes place through this app.
