The January 8, 2024 distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from November business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from November 16th to 30th and estimated sales from December 1st to the 15th.

The disbursement of $205,027,061 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $5,897,093 from the $199,129,968 distributed to them in January last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $42,999,318.

In county returns, the counties shared in $33,550,697 sales tax disbursements and $7,943,171 in use tax disbursements.

On the local level, Allen took a hit in 2024 by receiving $1,716.07 less this year than last. In 2023 the town received $20,678.04 compared to $18,961.97 this year.

The majority of area towns also took a loss. Atwood received $344.93, down from $1,485.15; Calvin dropped to $9,873.71 from $15,162.83; Gerty’s January 2024 revenue was $56.07 down from $168.05; and Holdenville dropped to $255,278.88 from $267,262.50.

On the opposite side, Ada and Francis posted gains. Ada received $1,792,641.13 up from $1,644,945.95; and Francis received $1,857.70, up from $1,604.69.

At the county level, Hughes took a drop while Pontotoc reported a gain. The 2024 Sales Tax Receipts to Hughes County totaled $115,435.28 down from $164.015.59. In Pontotoc County receipts were up to $519,791.00 from $459,863.97.

The trend reversed with Use Tax revenue. Allen increased by $740.19, receiving $7,120.48 this year compared to $6,380.29 last year.

Also posting gains were Ada, Gerty and Francis; Calvin and Francis received less this year.

Ada brought in $249,499.l80 compared to $195,899.60 for the same time period last year. Gerty was up to $95.56 from $52.28, and Francis received $1,044.39 up from $795.45.

Calvin dropped to $2,628.95 from $2,817.10, and Holdenville received $43,137.02 compared to $46,031.33 last year.

The two counties were also split with Holdenville receiving less and Pontotoc posting a gain. Hughes County received $24,387.83 this year, down from $33,579.03. Pontotoc increased to $99,908.71 from $88,485.54.
