The Allen Police Department responded to a call in the early hours of Monday, October 24th, which led to the arrest of Shaun Keiser of Stonewall.

After receiving the report of a man barricaded inside a vehicle near the intersection of State Highway 1 and CR 1505, Allen Officer Chad Vandever responded at 12:45 a.m. Arriving at the scene of a vehicle parked in the middle of the road with no lights on, Vandever reported the subject in the vehicle was armed and suicidal, and he requested assistance at that time.

Responding to the call for assistance were County Sheriff Deputies Clinton Smee, Eric Niblett, Michael Lindsey and Ryan Hudson, along with Allen Police Chief Brett Edens and four units from the Chickasaw Lighthorse; an armored vehicle was also brought in to assist and the highway was closed to traffic.

Deputy Smee reported that, upon his arrival, “I exited my patrol vehicle and took a barricade supported position with my rifle behind my patrol unit with a clear line of sigh to the suspect vehicle.

“For approximately 45 minutes numerous attempts were made via PA to attempt contact with the suspect to no avail.”

Keiser was then removed from his vehicle and it was noted that the suspect was armed with a rifle. It was also confirmed the firearm had no ammunition. Deputies who breached the vehicle observed that Keiser was passed out inside the vehicle. Deputy Niblett also reported that he detected an odor of alcohol as well as observed Keiser had glazed eyes. Keiser behavior was recorded as erratic and belligerent as he was in handcuffs awaiting transport.

Keiser was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication and possession of a firearm while under the influence and was taken to the Pontotoc County Justice Center.

The highway was reopened after approximately two hours.
