All tax divisions reported an increase for March except Gross Production Tax. March tax sources equal $1.34 billion, up $153.3 million, or 12.8% when compared to last month.

Receipts for the last 12 months through March total $16.85 billion, a decrease of $787 million, or 4.5%, when comparing revenue from the previous year. Gross Production Tax or “GPT” decreased $901.2 million, or 44.6% for the same twelve month period. In contrast, sales and use tax increased 2.1%.

The March 8, 2024 distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from January business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from January 16th to 31st and estimated sales from February 1st to the 15th.

The disbursement of $176,408,601 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected a decrease of $2,815,290 from the $179,233,891 distributed to them in March last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $30,613,927.

In county returns, the counties shared in $29,307,595 sales tax disbursements and $5,456,196 in use tax disbursements.

At the local level, Allen showed a substantial loss in 2024 compared to this time in 2023. This year’s receipts totaled $15,665.35 compared to $22,058.05 in 2023. A drop of $6,392.70.

Losses were also posted by Ada, Calvin and Francis, as well as both Hughes and Pontotoc Counties.

Ada dropped to $1,435,871.97 from $1,455,012.07; Calvin was down, receiving $9,526.79 compared to $12,480.56; and Francis received $2,598.53, down from $3,720.36 last year. Hughes County dropped to $96,273.47 from $127,771.16, and Pontotoc received $419,261.55 compared to $421,499.11 in 2023.

On the other side of the table, Atwood, Gerty and Holdenville posted gains. Atwood received $934.14, up from $219.79; and Gerty was up to $642.96 from $135.42.

Use Tax monies were also down for Allen, dropping to $3,838.09 from $5,109.62, a loss of $1,271.53. Holdenville was also down while all other area towns posted gains.

Holdenville received $30,074.42 this year down from $36,267.84 in 2023.

Ada increased to $181,327.42 from $150,715.58; Calvin was up to $1,465.86 from $1,361.21; Francis received $$536.13 up from last year’s $480.28; and Gerty was up to $232.85 from $82.49. Atwood does not collect Use Tax.

Both Hughes and Pontotoc Counties took hits. Hughes dropped to $16,600.95 from $18,108.68; and Pontotoc received $64,501.61 down from $65,416.19.
