Allen FCCLA Come Home Champions

Posted in:

Six Allen Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) students represented Oklahoma at the FCCLA National Leadership Conference in San Diego, California at the beginning of July.

All six students qualified at the State level to go and compete at the National level in FCCLA Competitive events, which are Students Taking Ac tion with Recognition (STAR) Events.

STAR Events are Competitive Events in which members compete at the District, Regional, State, and Na tional levels and are recognized for proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills, and career preparation.

STAR Events allow students to compete individually or as a team. There are more than 30 STAR Events students can choose to compete in, all which recognize participants who demonstrate their knowledge, skills, and abilities to actively identify an issue concerning families, careers, or communities, research the topic, and develop and implement a project to advocate for positive change.

Allen was well represented at the National Leadership Conference.

Keenan Walker received a gold medal and won first place overall in his event, Career Investigation.

Addison Prentice received a gold medal and won third place overall in her event, Promote and Publicize FCCLA.

Aniston Weeks received a gold medal and placed within the top ten of her event, Chapter Service Project.

Ava Laden and Malloree Howard received a silver medal and placed within the top ten in their event, Promote and Publicize FCCLA.

Maddox Wofford received a silver medal in her event, Focus on Children.

During their week at NLC, the students also got to network with other FCCLA members from across the nation, attend workshops and general sessions, and explore the town of sunny San Diego. Once again, they would like to thank our community for all of the support given to make their trip a success!
