Allen Districts Saturday

It’s came quick, but here we are, the regular season is over, playoffs begin for the Allen teams Saturday night in the confines of their home gym. The Allen boys and girls teams will play for the District Championship against the winners of the Konawa/Verden game that will be played on Friday night. Both teams defeated Konawa in the regular season. Girls tip-off at 6 p.m. with the boys to follow.

The regular season has been good to both teams. The girls ended regular season sitting in the number 5 spot with a 20-2 The Allen men’s squad ended with a 22-1 record.

With those records the teams were rewarded with hosting the first round of Regionals on Thursday, Feb 15. Possible teams coming to town beside our district is the champion and runner up of District 7 which has Rock Creek, Union City and Cordell. After that the teams will travel to Union City for the rest of the Regionals. Allen is in the Chickasha Area which will be Feb 22-24. From there of course would be a trip to the state tournament. Both Allen teams picked up statement wins over the always tough teams from Stonewall last Friday night in front of a packed hot and loud Allen gym. The Lady Mustangs came out with the 53-34 win. After a strong 21 point first quarter for Allen, Stonewall could never get caught up. Cherish Woodward led Allen with 18 points. Addison Prentice added 15 and Kaylee Davis had 11.

Allen men avenged their only season loss with the 50-47 win over the Longhorns. It came down to wire as free shots at the end proved to be the difference. Brayden Tatum led all scores with 20, Garrett Nix 10, Gus Matthew 8, Easton Ledo 6, Keithon Howard 2, Cayser Nickell 2 and Bodee Garrett 2.
