I’m teaching a Sunday School series on the Seven Deadly Sins and the Seven Cardinal Virtues. This week’s lesson was on Envy and Gratitude and as I began lesson prep I thought “I don’t really have a problem with envy”. At least that’s what I thought.

I had a great visit with Jay Isaacs last week. The 1964 Allen graduate lives in Everett, Washington. His father was William Isaacs and his uncle was “Babe” Isaacs. Babe was a close friend of our families and we visited often.

On Tuesday Chad Milne signed his letter of intent to play college basketball at Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa. A host of family, friends and teammates were on hand for the event. Pictured with Chad is his mom Kala and sister Maddy.

The Allen FFA chapter is one of the premier FFA chapters in Southeast Oklahoma. The program is the largest student entity within the local system and strives to push our members to become champions!

The Allen Elementary School “Meet and Greet” has been set for Tuesday, August 17 , from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. This is an opportunity for students to become acquainted with their new classroom and meet their teacher for the upcoming 2021-22 school year. Classes will begin Thursday, August 19 .

The president returned to familiar turf inside the United States Capitol on Wednesday to meet with Democrat lawmakers to discuss the budget, a massive spending proposal that promises to plunge the country deeper into debt.

The U.S. Postal Service has proposed a second 2021 postage rate increase for mailing services (letters, postcards) to be implemented on Sunday, August 29, 2021 subject to approval by the Postal Regulatory Commission.
