Allen Schools, like so many in the area, has been hit hard by the Covid virus. After being closed three days last week, plus this past Monday (as a planned day to observe MLK Day), Allen Schools resumed classed Tuesday. As of press time 89 students and 5 staff members were still out. Allen’s total enrollment is approximately 485 with over 60 employees.

The money was used to upgrade the playground equipment at the Allen Elementary. “We are very appreciative for the TSET grant that we are using to promote exercise for our students,” said Superintendent Jeff Hiatt.

Read moreJay Owens was sworn in as the Pontotoc County Assessor this past Monday morning, January 3 , in an 11:00 am ceremony at the Pontotoc County Courthouse. Mr. Owens assumes the position with 22 years of experience in the Assessor’s Office. He took over the position on the retirement of Debbie Byrd.
