Read moreOur recent sleet-based ice storm left the Allen area shut down. Schools and churches quit when confronted with heavy ice in their parking lots. Temperatures went down to the single digits. Some pipes froze up and everyone cranked up their heat as the high winds hunted and found ways to get inside some of the ancient houses we live in. But I am thankful that the electric and natural gas kept on flowing. No one seemed to be worried about the costs. At least before the bills come in later.
