Having a working bicycle in 1945 was very important to me and lots of my 10-year-old friends in Stonewall. But our WWII enemies, the Japs and the Germans had seen to it that bicycles, cars and such were fairly unavailable in the USA. Especially Stonewall.

Words seem so feeble in moments like these. We want to express our sincere gratitude for all the calls, text messages, food, flowers, donations, most important the abundance of love and prayers. Small communities mean so much in a time of need.

Many of us “old timers” grew up watching Abbott & Costello both on television and at the movies. Recently, the following item crossed my desk and it brought back a lot of memories…..

My article’s title refers to the eight people missing from Allen. I suppose they are anyway. The Census count in 2010 was 934 but in dropped to 926. I guess we will just have to make do. If you know who they are or were, let me know.

Recently, a friend shared the following with us and we thought you might enjoy it. It reminded me of my mother.........

My Mom’s stepfather was a nice old guy and I loved him very much. But he talked a lot, chewed tobacco, and told some of the same stories over and over.

At this stage of life, I spend a lot of time looking for things. (glasses, keys, pens, etc.) One of our readers said he thought of me when he read the following. Some of you other “old timers” might also identify with it.
