The Allen teams entered the Mvskoke Nation Invitational tournament each facing Wewoka in the opening round.

The Lady Mustangs ran all over the Lady Tigers 86-25 in the opening round. Kaylee Davis 25, Cherish Woodward 25, Addison Prentice 13, Kryslyn Stephens 10, Stoney Cully 9, Dextry Bowerman 2 and Kayla Nickell 2.

The Allen men weren’t so fortunate falling 50-41 to a very athletic Wewoka team. Gus Matthews had 15 points and 10 rebounds, Landin Tenequer 14 points and 3 assists, Grady Holder 5 points, Jax Watkins 4 and Mason Carter 4.

The loss put the Mustangs in the loser’s bracket against Morris winning 6147. Matthews again led the scoring with 17, Grady Holder and Bodee Garret added 11, Tenequer 7, Carter 6, Watkins 2, Gauge Lockhart 2, Jake Matthews 2 and Brax Wofford 2. Kayd Bell 1.

The girls won their second-round game 37-24 over Silo. The first half was a back-and-forth battle but the second half the Lady Mustang defense took over the game giving up only 2 points in the second half. Woodward 9 points, Kaylee Davis 8, Kryslyn Stephens 6, Addison Prentice 5, Dextry Bowerman 5 and Stoney Cully 4.

The win put the Lady Mustangs in the winner’s bracket against #3 Class 2A Hartshorne. Hartshorne used a scoring inside game to outrebound Allen and came up with the 6542 win over Allen. Cully and Prentice each had 10, Woodward 8, Davis 7, Bowerman 5 and Stephens 2.

The Allen men played for the 3rd place trophy against Silo. The Mustangs outlasted the Rebels for the 41-35 win. Allen outrebounded Silo 2011 on the defensive glass and shot 55% from the field. Tenequer 19, Gus Matthews 11, Watkins 6 and Bell 5.

The teams travel to Tupelo Friday and host two tough Latta teams on Tuesday. The Lady Mustangs are currently ranked #8 and the Allen men are sitting at 18. District pairings will be released at the end of this week as playoffs are just around the corner.
