A Run to Remember Lady Mustang Basketball
For the second year in a row the Lady Mustangs will finish out their season at the State Tournament. The back-to-back appearance is the first in school history. Allen’s travel plans to OKC were set last Friday night in the Area Championship against Wright City. The girls started off a little wobbly before getting their nerves settled down. And once those nerves were settled it was off to the races for Allen.
The 65-31 trouncing of Wright City came after a cold start from Allen. Allen had the shots, putting up 12 three pointers but couldn’t connect. But once the shots started falling there were no stopping the Lady Mustangs outscoring Wright City 22-3. As hot as the Allen offense the defense was picking up steal after steal picking Wright City’s pocket 30 times. In the fourth quarter after a scuffle between Kaylee Davis and a Wright City player Allen put the game out of reach and all players saw action in the Area Championship.

We started working toward this goal in May with summer team camps and open gyms. These girls have a true heart for the game and will put everything we’ve learned along the way this season into the next few days. The Lady Mustangs want to thank all of our family, friends, fans, school and administration for their support in this journey!”
As we all know by now, the Lady Mustangs dropped their opening game of the State Tournament to Caddo. The loss does not dimmish the great season they have had and as always it leaves them hungry for next year. Stats for that game will be in next week’s paper.
