Service held for Ed McKerley

Posted in:

A Memorial Service for Donald Edward “Ed” McKerley, 71, of Allen was held Monday, February 2nd, at the Allen Church of God of Prophecy at 1:00 pm, with Rev. Ed Rutherford officiating. Burial followed in the Gerty Cemetery.

Ed passed away Tuesday, January 27, 2026, in Ada. He was born February 19, 1954, to John Edward McKerley and Wilma Dean Goforth McKerley.

On May 6, 1978, he married Delena Sharon Davis, and they shared over forty years of marriage.

Ed worked as a carpenter for MacHill Construction until his retirement, and he was known as someone who could build, fix, or rebuild just about anything. Among his proudest projects was restoring a 1961 Ford Ranchero from the ground up.

Ed was a man of routines and loyalties. Sundays typically included church in the morning, grilling a proper hamburger, settling in to watch the NFL, and then enjoying a well-earned nap. He was a devoted supporter of OU football, followed his grandkids sports teams with enthusiasm, and remained faithfully committed to the longsuffering Buffalo Bills. Ed was also known for being a jokester, creating the screeching, hollering, hoot owls, and the woolly boogers. He was not shy about his opinions and never hesitant to back conservative causes and was a Bonafide Trump supporter in the last three election cycles.

Above all, Ed loved his family. He cherished being a “papa’ and was never too tired, too busy, or too old to get down on the floor and play with his grandkids.

Survivors include his wife, Delena, of the home; two daughters, Jaime McKerley of Allen, and Andrea Dowell and husband Kory of Latta; a sister, Wilma Ann French and husband Don of Roy, Washington; and three grandchildren, Avyn Johnson, Kinsler Dowell, and Emerson McKerley.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, John David McKerley.
