Lyn was born March 15, 1941 in Waco, Texas, to Jesse and Ethel (Horne) Williams.
She married her sweetheart, James Anderson, in 1963 in Haltom City, Texas. Together, they navigated Army life, and upon ending his career while stationed in Detroit, Michigan, the two took off to Texas, but stopped in Clinton, Iowa after hearing of job openings with DuPont. The two settled in Camanche, Iowa where they raised their three daughters. Thirty-five (35) years later, they retired and moved to James’ hometown of Allen, Oklahoma where they lived out their lives.
Lyn attended college at the University of North Texas, receiving her bachelor’s degree in Education. She was a devoted teacher in Clinton, Iowa for almost 40 years and was a Camanche, Iowa School Board member for 15 years. After moving to Allen, and teaching for another few years, she then sat on the Allen School Board for nine years. Her passion for education and kids was unmeasurable.
She enjoyed sewing, cooking, making silk flowers, hosting parties, and wedding planning. During the holidays she brought out the magic, decorating and hosting family and friends. Thanksgiving and Christmas, she went above and beyond to make the season magical for all. She was a member of the Allen chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and The Red Hat Society. She and her Jim traveled the world by plane, cruise ships, train, bus, and in their motor home, creating amazing memories and stories. Lyn’s favorite vacation was her multiple trips to Alaska.
