Fred Ellis II Passes Away

Posted in:

Fred Warren Ellis II was born on June 18, 1956, and passed from this life on December 5, 2025. He leaves behind a legacy of service, integrity, and generosity that will continue to inspire everyone who knew him.

Fred was a true patriot, always proud to display his country’s flag and to honor the men and women who served in the military. He was also an avid outdoorsman who found joy in firearms, fishing, hunting, and spending time in nature whenever he could.

A hard worker from an early age, Fred began working at just ten years old to help support his family. His early jobs ranged from delivering the Grit paper in McAlester, Oklahoma, to working as a car hop, as a restaurant employee, at a typewriter store, and on the road crew for Pontotoc County. He later served with dedication in the Oklahoma City Police Department before moving into loss prevention roles across Oklahoma, Texas, Florida, and Arkansas. In 1997, he briefly worked as business manager for Mark Skaggs LLC before beginning a long and respected career as an investigator for the Oklahoma Office of the Attorney General. Fred served as a multicounty Grand Jury Agent in Charge, and before that he was a Consumer Protection Unit Investigator. He was deeply respected by both colleagues and superiors.

Fred was known for his sharp eye for a bargain and his talent as a wheeler-dealer. He never met a stranger and loved telling stories that often left everyone laughing. Active throughout his life, he was an accomplished skier who happily taught friends and family the sport he loved. He especially enjoyed taking his nieces, nephews, and grandchildren tubing, always joining in the fun and usually laughing the loudest.

Affectionately known as the “Funcle,” Fred was adored by his nieces and nephews for his playful spirit and his constant presence in their lives. His big heart and willingness to help anyone in need reflected the faith he lived out daily, through his honesty, integrity, and genuine love for people.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Theda Ellis; his daughters, Mandren Silguero and husband Val Silguero, and Brandi Boles and husband Richard; and his grandchildren Shaina, Sophia, Vaile, and Valentin II Silguero, and Jack and Gwendolyn Boles. He is also survived by his sisters Patricia Bullard and husband Wayne, Margaret Bailey and husband Rodney, and Carolyn Cook; his sisters-in-law Catherine Ellis, Rhonda Godwin and husband Steve, and Paula Huffman and husband Morgan; his mother-in-law Wanda Waddle (Moe); as well as numerous cherished nieces and nephews, who he always enjoyed “checking for durability”, and many loving friends.

Fred was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Ellis Sr.; his sister, Freda Harry, and her husband Chuck; his parents, Fred and Katherine Ellis; his father-in-law, Ralph Waddle; and his cousin and mentor, James (Jim) Watson.

Fred’s life was one of service, joy, hard work, and kindness. His memory will continue to bring smiles and strength to those who loved him.
