Woodward and Hurt First to Ring New Love Theory Success Bell
The Allen High School has been gifted with a “Love Theory Success Bell.” The Bell, which is located in the school’s cafeteria, was presented this past week and rung first by students Cherish Woodward and Christopher Hurt.
Cherish is an outstanding citizen of the Allen Mustang Community. She was acknowledged for her tenacious effort in pitching the Lady Mustangs to a complete game shutout against the fine Tupelo Tigers’ softball team. Cherish was nominated by Principal Steve Butcher for her example of working hard to achieve success.
Christopher was nominated by his English teacher, Mrs. Allie Mudd, for his outstanding behavior in class and for his incredible knowledge of World War II. During an extended discussion of correlated facts, Christopher was able to provide information on many key points about the War. The manner in which Christopher shared information with his classmates exemplified the best way to share what you know with classmates.
The concept of the Success Bell was first presented to Ada High administrators from student Wyatt Brown. Wyatt had attended Camp Kanakuk for the previous two summers where the practice of ringing bells at sunset for the day’s accomplishments was a tradition. He felt hearing the ringing of the bell was a simple acknowledgement of an individual’s success, proclaiming to the world they have experienced an earthshaking shift in their life.
It became his goal to start a movement for all students to use bells to hear and celebrate each other’s successes. The bell would be rung by anyone achieving a positive goal. It was his belief that the Success Bells would create unity and pride throughout the school.
Wyatt’s idea began in 2021, the summer before his junior year at Ada High, but he didn’t live to see it grow and expand. Wyatt passed away on November 27, 2021. But his dream was carried on by his family and has spread to schools throughout the area.
