Threads of Life
This Sunday is Easter Sunday and as I write, I am thinking of the activities of the day. The Sunday School lesson, the Easter Lilies that fill the chancel at the church, the choir in their choir robes, and the music. This is a special day.
Then I thought of all the people who work throughout this day to provide services that we take for granted and have come to expect. I thought about the person who delivers my newspaper. I thought about this person and how tired they must be to rise so early each morning. I thought of the medical personnel in hospitals and nursing homes who care for the sick or injured, those in law enforcement who make our homes and streets safer, and also for those who drive trucks to deliver goods that we want or expect. We can turn on the television and find people who are telling us what kind of weather we may expect or bring music, entertainment or news. They are on duty every day, holiday or not.
My thanks and appreciation go out to these people for their loving care in giving their time to care for others. They faithfully carry out their duties and responsibilities. It this a special day for them? I salute them.
