Threads of Life

Posted in:

This week I want to talk about how I came to select the name for my column, “Threads of Life.”

We live every day carrying forward the threads of our lives. We bring our past experiences and future hopes to the time and place that we are this very minute. What we are is tied to all the people and personalities we have known. We are tied more strongly to our family and those we love and have loved. We are tied to all the experiences of our life. That is the thread in our lives that binds us all together.

That thread stretches everything sometimes. Think of the times in your life when relationships have been stretched, bent and twisted into terrible knots, and it seems as if they can never be straight or smooth again. The thread is not broken because we do not forget or put those things out of our life.

It is like God’s vineyard that Jesus taught about. The branches of God’s love extend into every being and into every soul. The thread that binds us together through all of our lifetime is sometimes stretched very thin, but it never breaks.

There is a fine thread that binds us all together, and that is love. We must treat each other with kindness and compassion.

We must show respect. We must care for one another. We live in the world that God made, and He bound us one to the other with the thread of His love. Let us not pollute it with hatred and destruction.

Love is like a fragile thread. Treat it very tenderly, and it will never break. It is, and will remain, strong enough to bind the link that is always between each one of us.
