Tax Receipts were up for Allen and Atwood
The September 9, 2024, distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from June business. The monies they reported this period represent sales from June 16th to the 31st and estimated sales from August 1st to the 15th.
On the local level, Allen posted an increase of $4,104.87 in the receipts from Sales Tax and Use Tax combined. The gain was $1,301.16 in Sales Tax, bringing in $23,487.62 this year compared to $22,186.46 last year. Use Tax was up $2,803.71, bringing in $6,933.97 this year up from $4,130.26 in the same period in 2023.
Sales Tax revenue was also up in Ada, Atwood and Byng, but down in Calvin, Francis, Gerty and Holdenville. The counties were also split with Hughes showing a loss and Pontotoc County posting a gain.
Ada receipts were up to $1,691,627.36 from $1,580,940.32; Atwood increased to $632.80 from $423.89; and Byng reported $18,232.93 up from $17,897.96. Calvin dropped to $10,471.61 from $11,375.53; Francis received $2,115.05 this year, down from $4,093.66; Gerty brought in $192.45 this year; and Holdenville was down to $248,352.24 from $249,385.14.
Use Tax was up in some local areas, but down in others. In addition to Allen, Ada posted a gain, receiving $228,809.33 this year up from $198,780.41; Byng increased to $17,936.13 from $8,207.83; Calvin was up, $2,762.77 compared to $2,041.14; and Gerty brought in $235.06 compared to $53.73 last year. Atwood does not collect Use Tax.
The two counties were split, just as with Sales Tax revenues. Hughes dropped from $27,741.55 to $18,430.04 this year while Pontotoc posted an increase, receiving $93,349.49 compared to $74,349.33 in 2023.
