Back in 2017 Donald Trump was the new kid on the block and America seemed to have one big question. Will the “Donald” build his historical wall and if so, what will it look like? The world has seen many walls built in the past. There was the great wall of China built way back when.

Other great kingdoms of the past tried to build great walls to keep people out, or perhaps to keep people in. The most recent wall of our time was the Berlin Wall. This wall was a great success, for Russia. It was satisfying for them in that it helped them to keep what was left of their Berlin — their way. It prevented the East Berliners from leaving the despised and decrepit area the Russians planned to turn into a “worker’s paradise”.

People being people, the great wall in Berlin was an eventual failure for the Russians. Escape from the East became the news. It made good television for the “West” as the world-wide daily news seemed to consist of heroic escapes and tearful reunions of Berliners. John F. Kennedy became an instant hero when he stood at the edge of this ugly symbol of political slavery and proclaimed “Ich bin ein Berliner” on June 12,1963. In 1987 Ronald Reagan stood at the same site and said: “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall.”

Joe Biden might well have said the same thing. He hated Trump’s wall as much as Trump liked it. Luckily for America, Biden left it alone but ordered construction to end on his first day behind his desk in the Oval Office. Security at the border relaxed and illegals swarmed across. By the millions. I think that this alone was a big factor in the American’s decision to turn President Joe Biden out. That and Biden’s obvious mental lapses and his aging. His VP Harris of course, never had a chance.

Other than telling the border guards to shoot the illegals down in cold blood stopping the flood of these illegals will continue to some extent even as Trump hastens work on the rest of this wall. And another worry: How will we ever get the hard work done by these hardworking and faithful illegals if we run them all off. I’ve heard more than one local wonder how we would have ever gotten our hail damaged roofs fixed without the hard work and sweat of our immigrants. Who indeed will do the field work around Bakersfield? Not me. I hope President Trump doesn’t spoil all that. Anyone remember John F Kennedy’s immigration Green Cards? I’ll bet the folks in Bakersfield, California do, In AD 122 a guy named Hadrian built a wall across England. It served Hadrian’s purpose and won him praise from stonemasons in Scotland. Suddenly all of Scotland loved Hadrian. Prosperity abounded. Meanwhile there’s another guy named Hadrian who lives at Carlsbad, New Mexico. Hadrian bid on building the Trump wall and wants his name on it. Why not? He is a building contractor. He wanted his name on it, too. But that wasn’t to be. It is heard, now long after the fact that Hadrian wanted to cash in on his name and the wall. He wanted to build Motels and such and make money off tourists who might like to see the wall for themselves. No mention of the Illegals spending the night in his motels.

Mr. Hadrian has already faded away in history as hotel and wall man Donald Trump moves back in.

Have a good week as we prepare for the holidays (Thanksgiving) and rapidly advancing onset of winter on December 12. Be sure and go to church on Sunday.
