Hard Times

I hope by the time you read this we all have had some rain. Or as the saying goes, “Boy, I never seen it so dry.” Well, actually we have had some timely rains this summer and driving back from Tulsa on Sunday I noticed that the vegetation looked pretty green. But even in our generation we can remember things such as the great draught, the terrible dust bowl of the 1930s. This dust bowl helped introduce America to the “Great Depression.” A worldwide economic calamity that caused governments to fall and introduced us to the Nazi’s and even World War II.

That was then and now is now. Technology and progress brought us TV. This brought us a new brand of “movie star” style of newspeople. When our news people finish a newscast, the “credits” include makeup artist and hair stylist.” How news people look is as important to these folk as what they put out in their versions of what’s happening. This has helped these nice looking folk to discover that they can create news. They can spin it to help the public form opinions that they should have. The opinion of the network itself. Thus, news can help shape was the news is going to be.

Last year following the attack by Hamas or whoever on a musical festival in Israel when involved terrorist firing machine guns into a massive crowd of mostly young people enjoying themselves— killing hundreds and kidnapping for hostage another large group of innocents, the world was outraged. Well, the Arab nations took it as some sort of great victory such is their hatred of the Jews and Israel. Americans mostly shocked and outraged. At first. But parts of the American news media had a different view. It seems that the old “Anti-Semitism” from ages back still lived, and it seemed to live in the American news media’s hearts.

In no time at all many of our coastal universities had political rioting against the Jews. When the general public disapproved of the direction the news media drove these political forces the leftist news media went to work. Soon, it was the Jews who appeared to attack themselves and kidnap themselves. If it had not been so sad it would have been funny. Our government, both executive and congress, were no help as they were just trying to make sure none of this damaged their political numbers for their next election.

The poor refugee city of Gaza was soon wrecked as Israeli forces searched for their own kidnap victims and pictures of dead and dying Palestinian children now flooded the American airways. The high-rises of Gaza were wrecked, and Gaza’s hospitals were wrecked. The whereabouts of hundreds of kidnaped Jews was soon forgotten. Netanyahu, the victim was now the bad guy. The Terrorist leaders much have had a lot of laughs when they saw that their plans in all this mischief had exceeded all their expectations.

Anyway, our news people may not be very accurate, but I guess the makeup artists, the hair people and clothing stylists are having a ball. I wonder how this will all play out. Be sure you go to church next Sunday.
