Missing Linda Spain
This past Monday I found myself attending the funeral of my good friend, Linda Spain. Linda was a very successful person. I don’t mean she was wealthy or any of those things we often think about when we speak of a successful person. Linda was good at what she did. She was a good Christian Lady who was an essential part of her church and its family. She will be sorely missed at the First Baptist Church as she was a great Sunday School Teacher and a notable church leader. Yes, very successful.
It seemed that Linda Spain was always near and present when you needed her to be. Linda was most noted in our community for being a skilled teacher of grade school age children. She was very caught up with the idea that children needed to learn that she always went the extra mile to see they got every opportunity. It was normal for her to seek out those children starting out who had a hard time reading or some other difficulty. It wasn’t uncommon to see her having those kids in her home in the summertime as she worked with them to make sure they had the skills needed to succeed in the grades ahead. Linda loved her students and they loved her.
It was normal operating procedure for her to stay up late at night working out lessons, grading papers and seeking ways to be a better more accomplished teacher. Linda and H. C. (her husband) had two children. Billy and Lisa. Linda saw to all their needs with love and the careful attention of a loving mother and everyone can testify that their kids was absolutely the best. Best behaved and well loved in our little town. Linda saw that she had taught them how to behave and she made sure they knew they were loved.
I could go on and for sure I can’t say enough about this good and upright Christian Lady. We’ll miss you Linda. It saddens me to know you are gone but I know where you went and where you are. Surely all of Allen will miss this good and gracious lady as long as we live. Thanks for the promises of God.
Oh yes, be sure and go to church Sunday.
