One Pharmacist’s View
More of the same.
Summer is here. President Biden’s hope for 70% of us be vaccinated by the 4th of July ended in just a hope. We never made it. The vaccine, as it is turning out, is not only effective but is safe. Hold outs still quote vague statements of government markers in the vaccine and even “mark of the beast” stories. See Revelations for correlation. Good luck. As for me and my family, we are all vaccinated now and going on with our lives with confidence.
Some Covid victims who are hard hit by this virus are suffering long lasting side effects. Death is only one of them. Some survivors are suffering months of breathing impairments, “fog brain” and other brain disabilities are scary. Having to learn to talk again and such as that remove any thoughts of vaccine hesitancy a thoughtful person might have. You should do this. Do it for the elderly and young children.
Got my copy of “National Geographic” last week. I grew up reading this great publication. The large library at Stonewall Schools kept copies handy and among other things, their great pictures of Africa and Africans served as a sort of human anatomy education. Pictures which we would call “porn” these days could be seen and educated young minds. The good people of National Geographic have “cleaned up” their magazine in these days of enlightenment and have instead populated its editorial staff with liberals obsessed with new concerns, such as global warming.
This month’s issue is no different. The bulk of the issue is pointed politically proving that the causes of this “warming” are basically capitalism which in an evil way is aimed at keeping poor people of minority races out in the hot sun to die in poverty, while the rich “whites” luxuriate in the shade. The pictures use Los Angeles as their proof of the pudding, showing white neighborhoods with shady yards and parks while the slum dwellers and homeless are left sizzing out in the hot sun. This happens, they explain because of the evilness of capitalism and lack of concern on the part of the nonchalant whites. “The rich have refused to fund or help in tree planting in poor black neighborhoods,” so it implies.
This week leaves us looking back on the 4th of July. A celebration of freedom. Freedom that has resulted in the development of the freest democracy in the world’s history. Freedom for the people to make good lives and enjoy their lives. Our founders sought such a nation of free prosperous people and made suggestions of how to not only obtain it, but how to keep it. An honest free press must take pains to bring truth to light. “
Thomas Jefferson said, “If we are to guard against ignorance and remain free, it is the responsibility of every American to be informed.” Samuel Adams started, “No people will tamely surrender their liberties, nor can any be easily subdued when knowledge is diffused, and virtue is preserved.” Thomas Jefferson, an often-maligned hero of the revolution by today’s liberal press said, “If we are to guard against ignorance and remain free, it is the responsibility of every American to be informed. James Madison also spoke about accuracy and freedom in the press. “A popular government without popular information, or the means of acquiring it is but a prologue to a farce or a tragedy or perhaps both.” Not forgetting George Washington who said it best. “Truth will ultimately prevail where pains are taken to bring it to light.”
Let’s hope that truth will prevail and that the question of “What is truth?” will not disappear. Hope your week is great and you enjoy your summer. I see that church attendance is now increasing each week. Make sure you are a part of this regeneration. Wayne Bullard, DPh cwaynebullard@gmail.com
