One Pharmacist’s View
Superbowl playoffs with dignity
While my better half and I joined the declining number of people who still watch pro-football we got to see our 49ers come back from a big fi rst half pounding by the Packers and win the game and a place in the Super Bowl in Miami. But what was Tyreek Hill doing in the entrance tunnel as the KC Chiefs waited to take the field against the Titans last weekend? Tyreek was engaging in a bit of what he thought was “fun” by getting down on all fours and pretending to pee like a dog. What was his message to the millions around the world who witnessed this yet another bit of ugly and juvenile behavior? I don’t know but it will always be the way we fans will remember Tyreek Hill. Forever.
To me, this silliness just blends in with the other nonsensical behavior in a time when rock stars and movie heroes nominate themselves as expert world spokesmen on both matters, political and otherwise complicated world events. John Cusack (the actor) denounced the world in general and the USA on its allowing “Capitalism” and the other evils in America to lead us further toward economic destruction and social injustices. Bernie Sanders has also found “paydirt” in the now generation for his Communist doctrine as he once again tries to save America from the evils of capitalism.
Meanwhile, leftist in our Universities and elitist groups are in “political heaven” as they parade their aging and favorite politician Bernie around the country as he runs for President of the United States. Like the actor-politician-expert, Cusack, Sanders thinks the time has ran out for America to heal the world. In fact, Bernie thinks in about 10 years if we don’t do something about global warming, sourcing different forms of energy and kill out the predatory Capitalism that has destroyed our society, the world will collapse in one big catastrophic heap. While it would be interesting to see just how this can all come about, I’m afraid Bernie is like me—running out of time. He will soon be 78. Me? Well I’ll be spared this sight. I’ll be 85 in February.
For Bernie, his campaign, based on his “heal the world,” and his economic envy theories, free stuff for everyone and again, his promise to eliminate the root of all evil, rich capitalists, resonates well and has given him a leg up in the election. Who could have thought it this time a year ago? Nor, who would have thought that right here during the worse global warming ever, that Jackson Hole, Wyoming would get over 11 feet of snow in one storm? Not me. But the enterprising ski city has been hard at work. Parking lots have been plowed and cleared and the place is jumping with the rowdy capitalistic skiers that liberals complain so much about. Not to mention how distracting a 11-foot record-breaking snowfall is to a global warmer.
Things remain quiet here on the home front in Allen. We are the ones really suffering from global warming. It seems as if the weatherman holds back on his snow forecasts for us. But that’s OK. Just be sure and go to church this Sunday unless it snows eleven feet of snow in Allen.
