Trump Stays in the News
The “inner circle” of advisors and helpers Donald Trump has are urging him to let them do the day to day battling concerning his impeachment fi ghts with Congress. In other words. They want him to try and keep quiet and let them handle the details. But I doubt if the President will have any of that. He likes his Twitter Account and the access it gives him to the media and his supporters. As it is, Trump can bombard twitter with his ideas and his realities. I don’t know if that’s a good thing or not but if the polls are of any indication as to how things are going, he might be smart to listen more and talk less.
Trump journeyed up to New York over the weekend to see a fi ght at Madison Square Gardens. Of course, he was greeted, inside and out with loud booing and yelling. I think he likes it. A subject such as him being booed by the political opposition wins him some sympathy votes and overall is not harmful to him. But the word on the street from his haters is, “We need to dog him everywhere he goes.” This will erase much of his GOP support he receives from his faithful.” So, I can see that there is a wide gulf between what those demonstrators think and what actually happens in these incidents. Past experiences show booing, and such makes his supporters even more steadfast.
Whatever happens it seems the next 12 months will prove interesting to those who observe the American scene and be unable to not draw comparisons to the Clinton and Nixon troubles. And how many, like me are waiting to see the next unexpected events to unfold and maybe affect how the elections turn out. We are living in a historic moment of political change.
The big wall along the Mexican border is going along well, so I read. Congressional Democrats are still fighting the wall and doing a pretty good job of keeping it slow. One thing that has gone wrong is the steel used in the wall is not of the highest quality. Smugglers have found that they can go to the hardware store, buy a $100 battery powered reciprocating saw and cut through the bollards like butter. And they do. So much so the border patrol is getting expert at repairing it. Most of this cutting is taking place out around the San Diego area where the border traffi c is heaviest. Trump says the democrats have cut funding so much that a cheaper steel has had to be used. Steel that cuts easily.
From the outset the President has favored a concrete wall. but the border guards said they needed to see through it, thus the use of steel. It will be interesting to see if this wall is ever completed. Meanwhile, folks in Allen are more concerned about basketball season starting, the weather forecast and what happened to our football team. Football started off with a bang but as we got deeper into the schedule found it was hard to compete with some of the larger schools in this 11-man game. Anyway, we are proud of our kids for competing and know we’ll be better next year. Thanks guys.
Be sure and attend your church this Sunday. Your pew looks strange when you’re not in it. Have a good week.
