Again the Mustangs made the game exciting holding on for a 9 point win over Konawa here Friday 31-22.

It was scary early as Konawa took the early lead on a 13 yard run and scored the 2 point extra point.

In the second quarter Quinton Walker tackled a Konawa runner in the endzone for a safety. Then later in the quarter Walker finished a drive with a 7-yard touch down run. Quinn Corum kicked the extra point and Allen led 9-6 at the half.

The third quarter the teams traded touchdowns. Konawa had a 10-yard run but were held out of the endzone for the extra point. Corum completed a 15-yard pass to Kayd Bell for a touchdown. Corum ran in the extra point. Allen led 17 – 16 end of the third quarter.

The fourth quarter the mustangs scored on a 3-yard pass from Corum to Walker and Corum extra point kick was good. Konawa answered with a 2-yard touchdown but again missed the extra point. Allen scored the final points on an 8-yard run by Bell and Corum kicked the extra point.

“The boys really came together in the second half, refused to quit,” said Coach McCreary. The Mustangs suffered some injuries in the game and its not known if all players will be available for the trip to Stroud this Friday. Stroud owns a 2-2 record with losses in the opening 2 weeks to Chandler and Colcord. They have rebounded the last 2 weeks with wins over Okemah 38-22 and District foe Liberty 52-13.
