Mustangs do well in first scrimmage

SEASON OPENS NEXT FRIDAY

Posted in:

The Allen showcased what they have been working for all Summer when they scrimmaged Dibble here last Friday.

This Thursday the team wil be travelling to Atoka for their final tune-up. First play is scheduled for 6 p.m. There will be no admission charged at Atoka for the scrimmage.

“I was really proud of our hustle and toughness! We threw and caught the ball very well and our defense played with great effort,” said Coach Matt McCreary.

The scrimmage was played in the recent inferno we have been living through. The scrimmage on Thursday will be played on Atoka’s artifical turf which will add even more heat to the event. “I thought our guys handled the heat pretty well. Of course we have been out in it all summer but I don’t know if you ever get used to it, you just survive it. We try to keep them hydrated up and its so important that we have fresh bodies that we can run in there.” Coach McCreary saw improvement throughout the scrimmage and is expecting that to continue. “That scrimmage was a great step forward for us,” he said. Regular season starts next Friday when the team hosts Elmore City.
