Mustangs Crowns Liberty 21-12

It was a wonderful Homecoming 28-12 win for the Mustangs over Liberty. The win moved Allen’s record to 5-2 overall and 3-1 in district and sitting in a 3ways tie for second place in the playoff race. Stroud is sitting in the drivers seat. In second place with the Mustangs are Hartshorne and Mounds which both remain on the schedule so the team will have its fate in it own hands.

The Mustangs used the first quarter to get their feet under them and then scored twice in the second quarter; a 3-yard run from Tagus Howard and a 39 yard pass from Quinn Corum to Quinton Walker. Corum successfully kicked both extra points. The third quarter Walker had another long run to paydirt with a 49 yard jog. Coum kick.

Going into the 4th quarter the Mustangs held a 21-0 lead when Libery scored twice cutting the score to 2112.. Howard scored his second touchdown on a 8-yard run and Corum kidked to end the game 28-12. Coyt Bell had 2 interceptions in the contest.

“I was pleased with the effort, and that was big district win, we just need to improve every game and work ourselves into a good position for playoff’s,” said Coach Matt Mc-Creary.

The Mustangs travel to Savanna Friday for a district game, kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
