The Lady Mustangs are headed to the Area Tournament needing only 1 more win to earn their seat at the Class A State Tournament. They breezed through the Regional tournament with wins over Weleetka and Wellston.

In the last home game for Allen the Lady Mustangs rolled up Weleetka 91-33. The Lady Mustangs were just too strong putting up 89 shots compared the Weleetka’s 36 shots. The defense was also a nightmare for the Lady Outlaws as Allen had 27 steals and 19 deflections. The only category Weleetka bested Allen was defensive rebounds 20-18. In the contest Cherish Woodward scored her 1,000th point.

Allen never trailed in the game and came out with the 60-26 win and Regional Championship. It was a stellar swarming defensive that never allowed Wellston go get into a grove. As we all know a strong defense feeds a good offense and scored 22 points off of turnovers alone. Allen had 24 steals and forced 32 turnovers. Allen scored 32 of their points in the paint. Again Addison Prentice had the hot hand leading Allen with 18 points.

The winner will advance to the State tournament. The loser will return Saturday evening for another chance. Wright City comes into the game with 17-11 record. They defeated Crowder and Cyril for their regional championship. Coach Dottie Slabaugh has a lot of confidence in her team. “We will need to play well, rebound, limit turnovers. Just do the little things rights and see how things shake out.”
