Mother Nature wasn’t friendly or supportive of the Allen Independence Day Celebration scheduled for last Saturday. But it wasn’t a total “wash out.”

The parade went off as planned and was enjoyed by a large crowd. Congratulations to the entry winners:

• Lacey Tinsley – Boat

• Ryder Haney – Pool Party on Wheels

• Maddie Crabtree – Rodeo Queen with Flag

• Daniel Cummings Family – Decorated Golf Cart

• TIE: Tinsley Wofford and Colt Cross The top four winners will each receive a $50 prize. Tinsley and Colt, who tied, will each receive $25. Winners can pick up their prize at city hall after Monday.

The hot dog cookout turned into a drive by event but they managed to give away 480 hot dogs with chips and drinks.

The committee is already looking at options to reschedule the evening of fun, possibly turning it into a Back-to-School celebration. Details will be announced as soon as plans are made. Watch your Allen Advocate or social media for updates.
