A packed gym saw two nail biting games Tuesday night as the Allen teams hosted rival Vanoss.

The Lady Mustangs gave undefeated Vanoss all they wanted for 4 quarters before coming up a little short 38-32. The Lady Mustangs started with a 11-1 deficient at the end of the first quarter to tying up the game at the half. Although being outsized the Allen girls outscored the Wolves 18-10 in the pain and out rebounded them 3423. “We played hard and had some really good stretches against Vanoss. Turnovers hurt us, especially in the first quarter. We are working to get better one game at a time. We are looking forward to getting to host our tournament this week, “said Coach Dottie Slabaugh. Cherish Woodward led Allen in scoring with 12 and 8 rebounds. Addison Prentice picked up 5 defensive rebounds.

The Mustangs started hot and had a 35-22 lead at the half before Vanoss knew what hit them. The second half was a back-andforth affair with the Mustangs came out with the 65-56 win. “Those are the kind of games we need, fastpaced, up and down the court shootouts. I thought we played with a lot of confidence, the ranking plus the fact that they had beaten us earlier in the season didn’t seem to intimidate us at all. We kept our cool and played our game. We are definitely happy with the win, but we aren’t satisfied. We need to continue progressing and getting better every game”, said Coach Greg Mills.
