Allen Students Getting ready for Fall Sports season
July 4th seems to be the midway point in summer which means the countdown to back to school has begun. Allen Schools 2025-26 year will begin with students returning on August 14th.
The elementary supply list is out and shopping for the essentials will soon start, but school activities are already underway.
Starting July 15th, every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, students planning to participate in Cross-Country will begin practice at the softball complex. Practices should run about 30 minutes at first and possibly get a little longer as runners gain strength and endurance. This is for students going into the 5th through 12th grades.
Coaching the crosscountry team is Alec Bryen. He is in his second year at Allen.
“Summer Pride” is in full swing and the weight room is busy with players hard at work, getting in shape for the upcoming football season. Coach Reade Box is looking forward working with the Mustangs. The Football Booster will have their first meeting August 5th, 6:30 pm, location to be announced later.
Boys entering grades 9th through 12th who are planning to play baseball this year are encouraged to come out for some cage work on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. This is a great opportunity to meet Coach Wyatt and get some practice in.
Fast Pitch Softball will be coached by Mr. Ackerman with the first game for both Junior High and High School players on August 11th when the teams travel to Moss.
The Allen FFA chapter is already working toward another successful year. Local officers attended a three day retreat in June to develop leadership skills. They participated in team-building activities, workshops and planning sessions. They also participated in a “Red Door Escape Room Experience”, which required teamwork, problem solving and communication to overcome the challenges and escape within the time limit. The FFA advisor is Aaron Purkins; 2025-26 officers are Cooper Newberry, Emma Tomb, Alleigh Horton, Cami Frederick, Taylor Batey.
