Their opening opponent was Soper 79-11. Freshman Addison Prentice led all scorers with 17 points. She was followed by Tournament MVP Cherish Woodward with 16, Kaylee Davis 15, Maggie Yarbrough 10, Brooklyn Sanders 8 and Stoney Cully 8. All Lady Mustangs had extensive playing time in the contest.

Next victim for the Lady Mustangs was Savanna. Savanna didn’t fare much better falling to Allen 51-14. Maggie Yarbrough pulled down 6 rebounds and Alexis Slabaugh had 3. Woodward had 5 steals and Prentice had 3.

The finals pitted the Number 3 and undefeated host Stringtown against the Mustangs. The Mustangs outscored them in every quarter but the 3rd. Allen won 64-56. “We survived a lot of their runs, they have an excellent 3 point shooter that made us nervous but our defense played solid and our offensive did a good job of finding our open shooter. It was probably one of the best games we have played all year,” said Coach Greg Mills.

Next up for the teams is a home game against Konawa on Friday. Note all currently enrolled Allen students will get in free with a voucher handed out at the office.

Also watch out for Brayden Tatum. He is 3 points shy of the 1,000 benchmark and we are sure he will hit that early in the contest on Friday.

Next week Vanoss comes to town on Tuesday. Then beginning Thursday the Allen gym will play host to the first annual Mustang Winter Classic. The tournament will feature the home team, Wewoka, Weleetka, Strother, Wilson, Coalgate, Coleman and Stratford. Come out and support our team and watch some great basketball without ever having to leave town.
