Friday night was a big night for Garrett Nix as he led the Mustangs in both rushing and touchdowns. Nix traveled 142 yards on ten carries to put three touchdowns on the scoreboard.

After an early first quarter touchdown by the Stratford Bulldogs, the visitors scored no more while the Mustangs put 30 points up for a decisive win.

Currently 1-1 on the season, the team travels to Coalgate this week for one more non-district game. Coalgate also holds a 1-1 record.

Nix’s first score was on a 66-yard run just thirty seconds into the second quarter; midway through the quarter he scored again with a 35-yard run.

Then it was Brayden Tatum’s turn as he captured a 60-yard throw from Bodee Garrett; then, just before the half, Allen’s defense got on the board with a safety. This gave the Mustangs a 24-6 lead as they headed into the break.

The scoring ended with a third quarter Nix touchdown. A 40-yard run brought the score to 30-6, and the final score.

Allen finished with 363 total yards, 147 passing and 216 rushing. After Nix, Kayd Bell was next high with 29-yards rushing, then Garrett 25, Noah Bray 12, Brayden Tatum 6, and Ethan Smith 2. Garrett was 9-of-15 for 147-yards passing. Tatum’s three catches gained 72-yards, Sedrick Lindsey caught one for 44-yards, Nix had two for 23; and Easton Ledo one for 8-yards.

Defense was led by Jagger Caldwell with 5.5 tackles; Conner Smith added 5; Tatum 3.5; Brogen Goodson 3; Jack Todd 3; and Nix 3.
