Allen Men Win Championship Teams Sweep Asher
Conference foe Asher came to Allen on Tuesday night and left with 2 losses.
The Lady Mustangs posted a 68-19 win. The Lady Mustangs defense led to 26 points in transition and out rebounded the Lady Indians 4433 and picked up 19 steals. Although Allen registered 68 points it shot 42% from the field. Junior Addison Prentice led all scorers with 23 points going 10 for 13 from the field and 2 of 5 from the three point line, Cherish Woodward racked up 14 points 5 rebounds and 5 assists and 5 steals; Kaylee Davis had 11 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists Kryslyn Stephens 8 points, 6 rebounds; Stoney Cully 7 points, 5 steals and 5 rebounds; Kayla Nickell 4 poits3 rebounds, Dextry Bowerman 1 point 3 rebounds and 1 block. Also seeing action was Tresley Mowdy and Kierra Frederick.
The Allen men faced #12 ranked (class B) Asher in a rematch from the Conference tournament in which Asher defeated the Mustangs. On this night the Mustangs avenged the loss with an overtime 4643 win on our home court. The Mustangs used a strong defense to hold the Indians to 43 points. On a night when the Mustangs were a little cold from the field Gus Matthews and Landon Tenequer combined for 30 points. Asher took a first quarter 7-4 and the Mustangs roared back outscoring the Asher 18-9 in the second stanza. The rest of regulation was a battle back and forth in a very physical ending in a 39-39 tie. The Allen defense held Asher to 4 points while Mason Carter hit a 3-pointer and Gus Matthews had a bucket and 2 free shots to secure the win. Matthews 18 points, Tenequer 12, Kamdyn Adams 5, Mason Carter 4, Kayd Bell 2, and Jax Watkins 2.
The teams will host Konawa on Friday, Senior Night festivities start at 6 and the girls tip at 6:30. On Saturday the teams travel to Strother for a 2:30 tip off. On Tuesday the teams will host two ranked team from Vanoss. Then beginning Thursday they will be in the Muskogee Nation Tournament in Okmulgee.
