Allen Fastpitch on Fire
The Lady Mustang softball started the season strong owning a 5-1 record in early part of the season. The Lady Mustangs only loss is a 6-7 loss to Wister.
The Wister game was a back-and-forth game with Allen leading 6-4 going into the bottom half of the 5th inning where Wister scored 3 runs to take the lead. The Lady Mustangs had two more innings to take the get back on the scoreboard but stranded a running and coming up short 6-7. Highlights in the game were two home runs by pitcher Dextry Bowerman. The 2 home runs scored 3 runs and were inside the park home runs. Addison Prentice, Kala Nickell, Kryslyn Stephens and Stoney Cully each had a stolen base. Nickell, Kaylee Davis, Prentice, Cully and Stephens also each had a single in the contest. Bowerman took the loss pitching 4 1/3 inning giving up 7 hits, striking out 3 and walking 5. Davis pitched an inning in relief giving up 1 run and 1 base on balls.
A trip to Tupelo is always tough and Allen came out with the 3-0 victory. Cherish Woodward pitched the complete game shut out giving up 3 hits and striking out 8. Woodward faced 26 batters. Allen jumped on the scoreboard first on a rbi fielder’s choice in the second inning. Allen had 7 hits in the game. Cully led Allen with 2 rbi’s. Davis went 2 for 2 at the plate. Defensively Allen turned a double play and committed 0 errors in the field. Davis and Stephens each hit a double in the contest. Bowerman and Nickell each hit singles and had a stolen base. Prentice and Woodward each had single as well.
Allen finally got to play in front of the local fans with a double-header with Haworth. It was
