Allen City Council Meets
The Allen City council met Monday June 2 inside City Hall. Three members were present, Dianna Brannan, Josh Marshall and Melinda Haney. Also in attendance was Town Administrator Calem Woodward, City Clerk Kala Stephens, Police Chief Darrell Armstrong, Police Officer Jeremy Burris and guest Pam Price.
The meeting consisted of approving the 2026 budget, the Library Budget, approval of paying the property insurance policy.
Reports were given on the status of ditches being cleaned, pool repair, training and patch work on Broadway. The terrible condition of Broadway does not go unnoticed. We had a commitment from another organization to help with the repair work. So, in the meantime our goal was to patch the best we could until ultimate goal of resurfacing the road. That help has seemed to disappear. One of the major problems is those sections of road are way lower than the median and surrounding property, so it sits and can’t drain in a timely manner. That plus the age of the road has made it almost undriveable in sections. Just last week the employees had filled the terrible spots with 2 ½ tons of concrete.
