Allen Basketball Open Season with Wins
The time has finally arrived, it is basketball season in Allen. The teams hit the ground running with home games on Monday and Tuesday plus another home game slated for Friday.
The Lady Mustangs opened the season with Calvin and game out with the 65-44 win. It took a full half before the Lady Mustangs were able to put Calvin away. “We were happy to start the season with a win, Calvin is a good team, but we came out after the half and played good defense plus added 21 points in the third quarter, so you can’t complain about that” Coach Slabaugh. Kaylee Davis led the team in scoring with 15 while Cherish Woodward grabbed 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and 1 block; Stoney Cully had 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 7 steals Allen

Garret Nix led all scorers with 17 points followed by Brayden Tatum with 14; and a slew of player hitting the scoring sheet.

The Allen girls held Coalgate to only 7 field goals on the night and won the contest 5522. ‘We played much better in the Coalgate game, we shut them down and we shot the ball well.’ The Lady Mustangs went to the free shot line 12 times, connecting on 9 of them. Again, Kaylee Davis was the leading scorer with 15 points with Woodward also hitting double digits with 11. Cherish also pulled down 6 rebounds and 3 steals; Stoney Cully had 6 rebounds and 7 steals.

The Lady Mustangs come into the tournament and the second seed, and the Mustang Men will be the third seed, behind Vanoss and Roff.
