Ada Woman Charged with Manslaughter

Posted in:

A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Christine Arlene Brogdon, 52, of Ada who has been charged with manslaughter in the first degree in the July 27, 2023 death of 48-year-old Dana Gayle Miller of Ratliff City. Dana attended Tupelo Schools and graduated from Allen High School.

Dana was killed in a four-vehicle collision on SH3 near Old Highway 3. Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Jamey Miller responded to investigate the accident.

A probable cause affidavit signed by OHP Lt. Joshua Christian states that during the investigation it was determined that a brown 2019 Infiniti QX50 driven by Christine Arlene Brogdon was traveling west on SH3 and a white 2008 Chevrolet HHR driven by Henry Allen Miller was stopped in traffic behind multiple other vehicles due to road construction. The road construction was in the eastbound lane of Hwy. 3 and a pilot car escorted eastbound and westbound traffic through the work zone in the westbound lane. The Infiniti driven by Brogdon failed to slow for cause and struck Miller’s Chevrolet from behind.

The OHP affidavit states that evidence at the scene and on the roadway indicated that the area of impact was in the westbound lane. Dana Miller was a backseat passenger in the Chevrolet and the collision resulted in her death. A second passenger in the Chevrolet was 44-year-old Jason Wayne Sanders who sustained serious injuries and was treated by Mercy Hospital EMS at the scene before being transported by medical helicopter to a trauma center.

The affidavit also states that during the initial interview with Brogdon, she stated that there could be evidence of THC in her system from about a week prior to the collision along with anti-depressants that she had taken earlier on the date of the collision. She said she did not feel that she was under the influence of either at the time of the collision.

Due to injuries sustained in the collision, Brogdon was not given a field sobriety test. She told the trooper she had experienced a bad day along with a migraine that she was suffering from at the time of the collision. Mercy EMS was requested to withdraw blood samples from her before she was transported to Mercy Hospital.

The affidavit states that according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation toxicology report, Brogdon had the following intoxicants in her system: Oxycodone, 11-nor-9- carboxy- delta- 9tetrahydrocannabinol (THCA), Tetahydrocannabinols (THC) and Bupropion – Detected.

During a review of the Airbag Control Module (ACM) data, scene evidence and statements made by the truck driver following Brogdon, it was determined that Brogdon’s vehicle did not slow for cause or attempt to avoid the collision with slow moving traffic in the construction zone. Multiple construction zone signs were documented in the area and Brogdon is familiar with the area since she travels that path to work daily.

The affidavit states that during the investigation, it was uncovered that Brogdon was on a Facebook Messenger facetime call beginning at 4:24 p.m. to “My love boy.” The call lasted 28 minutes and 29 seconds.
