AMS and AJHS 2022 ECU All-District Honor Band

Four Allen Middle School students and one Junior High student made the 2022 East Central University’s All-District Honor Band. They performed with students from across the area this past Saturday, January 8 , in the Hallie Brown Ford Fine Arts Center, Ataloa Theatre, on the ECU campus. Pictured, left to right, and the position they earned in the band are Brailee Davis, Middle School 2 Chair Baritone; Ely O’Daniel, Middle School 9 Chair Trombone; Blake Campbell, Junior High 5 Chair Trumpet; Bobbie Chapman, Middle School 4 Chair Tuba; and Kyra Collings, Middle School 2 Chair Horn.

No good deed goes unpunished

Yes, there are people who live on this earth who see to it. One such individual was a “faithful” customer of mine way back in the 1970s. He was a chronic complainer who was forever being shorted on his medicine, by me. The city overcharged him on his water and the butcher over at Allen Food Center always weighed his meat orders heavy. He had a rough life. He had one prescription for 30 pills. Cheap. So cheap that I only charged him a buck a month for his 30 pills. But of course, he said I always cheated him anyway so I just made it a point to give him an extra pill or two. This gift was never acknowledged.

He did it again! Race number 915 is now in the books for Skeeter Hogue after traveling to Buckeye, Arizona (south of Phoenix). There he won 1 in his division in the “Race to the Runway” at their local airport on January 8 .
