Lady Mustangs end season in Regionals

The Lady Mustangs had a strong first day in the Regional Tournament hosted by top ranked Caddo. Allen started the day beating Bennington to face the Caddo. The Lady Mustangs may have played best game of their season and gave Caddo a scare. The loss put the Ladies in the loser’s bracket. The game against Rattan found the Lady Mustangs playing a little flat and Allen ended their season. “We got a little better each game of the season and by the end we were as good as anyone but came up just short at the end. This was a great group of girls, and we are ready to come back in the spring and try it again,” said Coach Richbourg.

No. I never owned one of those marvels of Henry Ford’s engineering, but I sure wish I had when I was in high school over at Stonewall. The next best thing happened when Lefty Wilson drove his “A Model” to school one day. And as luck would have it, he invited some of us, his classmates, on a ride that noon hour. We had to play our cards close to our vests since the Superintendent, D. D. Duke ran a taut ship over there but when Lefty proposed an illicit ride in the nearby country that long ago noon hour, he had plenty of volunteers.

I have always fought a tendency to be overprotective of my growing children. Apologetically I would say to my firstborn, “I’ve never had a son your age before, and I need to be a little older so I can get used to it.” This explanation carried us through new experiences in his life that ranged from his first airplane trip alone to getting his driver’s license.
