A large crowd gather Monday, Memorial Day, to honor Allen’s servicemen and women. The ceremony was held at 11:00 a.m. at the cemetery and this year’s speaker, Wayne Layell, did an outstanding job. 1st Sgt. Layell served in the U.S. Marine Corp, retiring in 1991 following 23 years of service for his country that included two tours in Vietnam.
This years Mustang Service Award recipient is Cheryl Rowsey. Cheryl was honored for her 40 years of teaching, 33 of those being in Allen.

Thirty-seven young adults have completed the state requirements for graduation and will officially become alumni of Allen High School this Saturday morning, May 13th, as they cross the stage and receive their diplomas. The commencement ceremony will be held at 10:00 a.m. in the High School Gymnasium on east main street.
Allen High School was well represented at the recent Regional Track Meet and brought home a number of medals. Congratulations on a job well done to all who competed and those who placed.

The Allen Alumni Weekend is an annual event, always held on Father’s Day weekend. This year’s events will be held Friday, June 16th, and Saturday, June 17th, with a change of venue.
