Family Life
It seems as if I have aged more rapidly this past year; more so than in previous years. I seem to move more slowly and enjoy sitting more than getting up and taking care of some of the things I want to do.
Recently, I had an idea that I have many nieces and nephews that have not heard the story of how things were when our family was growing up. Many of those nieces and nephews have lived in California and have not heard how things were with our family growing up on a farm and how the family lived in their early years. I thought it might be interesting to them to know how it was when their grandparents lived so I have pulled out copies of the family history and have been getting it ready to make copies for them.
I started writing for the newspaper my junior year in high school. I was a member of the journalism class that published a monthly newsletter for our high school. I got the idea that the community might be interested in what our high school was doing, so I went to the local newspaper and asked them if they would be interested in publishing our school news. They said yes and so I wrote school news for the local paper while I was in high school.
Recently, I thought that my nieces and nephews would like to read some of the things that I have written about so I dug through my files and pulled out some things I thought they might like.
Each time I think I have found a lot of that history to copy, I seem to find more that I think they would like. I would love to take all my nieces and nephews that have lived in California all their life and let them see the sorghum mill, the threshing of black-eyed peas, and other things that were so a part of growing up on a farm, and just get their opinion of what they think of how things were. And to show them how things were for their grandparents. Alas, they will never know. Also, it is not a thing that is important to them. They are living a good life and I am glad for them.
However, I am making copies and it will be available for any of the family who is interested in it.
