Tax Receipts Up for Area
The June 9, 2025 distribution of sales tax collections by the Oklahoma Tax Commission primarily represents local tax receipts from April business. Companies that remit more than $2,500 monthly in sales tax receipts are required to file and pay electronically. The monies they reported this period represent sales from April 16th to 30st and estimated sales from May 1st to the 15th.
The disbursement of $201,028,856 in sales tax collections returned to the cities and towns reflected an increase of $6,927,715 from the $194,105,141 distributed to them in June last year. The use tax disbursement to cities and towns was $36,620,911.
In county returns, the counties shared in a $35,436,529 sales tax disbursement and $7,416,188 in a use tax disbursement.
Allen enjoyed a healthy gain this year over last year’s receipts with an increase of $3,536.77. This year brought in $17,562.02 compared to $14,025.25 in 2024.
Gerty and Holdenville also posted gains while Ada, Atwood, Byng, Calvin and Francis received less.
Gerty increased from $141.14 to $436.25, and Holdenville increased to $240,324.42 from $237,320.20. Ada dropped to $1,613,047.18 from $1,672,836.15; Atwood received $436.08 from $492.95; Byng brought in $15,943.80 down from $16,873.44; Calvin earned $7,375.72 compared to $8,784.78 last year; and Francis dropped to $1,343.13 from $1,451.78.
The two counties split with Hughes County posting a gain, receiving $95,274.93 compared to $87,068.99; Pontotoc County took a loss, bringing in $448,010.22 down from $491,274.91.
In Use Tax, Allen receipts were down by $429.40, bringing in $5,883.36 this year compared to $6,312.76.
Also having a loss in Use Tax revenue were Byng and Holdenville. Increases were posted by Ada, Calvin, Francis and Gerty.
In 2024 Byng brought in $6,500.04 and dropped this year to $6,247.77; Holdenville received $31,884.65 this year down from $43,759.92 last year.
Ada was up to $249,743.73 this year from $193,746.15 in 2024; Calvin was up to $2,332.94 from $2,238.94; Francis increased to $850.49 from $836.29; and Gerty received $117.22 compared to $58.80 last year.
The counties again split with Hughes taking a loss and Pontotoc taking a gain. Hughes County brought in $17,830.73 this year compared to $20,421.11 last year; Pontotoc County increased to $84,933.38 from $75,439.40.
