Rites held for Clyde Wofford
Services for Clyde Wofford, 89, of Lula were 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 25th , at the Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Reno Dye officiated. Burial followed at the Allen Cemetery. The Chickasaw Honor Guard conducted military honors at the cemetery.
He went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 22, 2019, at an Ada nursing home. He was born March 6, 1930 in Atoka County to Fred and Lottie Mae Sluder Wofford.
He married Alma Nell Sweat on April 5, 1952. She preceded him in death September 20, 2009. They were united in marriage for 56 years.
Clyde served as a Corporal in the U. S. Army from October 1952 to October 1954. Following completion of Boot Camp at Fort Chaffee, he was stationed in South Korea during the Korean Conflict. Clyde never regretted the sacrifices he made to serve his country.
Clyde retired from Pontotoc County District #1 as a Supervisor in 1995. His main interest in life after his wife and family was working. He was a farmer raising livestock and baling hay. In his later years, he was a loyal Stonewall Longhorn basketball fan.
Survivors include his son, Jack Wofford, Lula and special daughter, Lee Anna Eubanks, Blanchard; his daughter, Melinda Rolen and husband Johnny, Fittstown; granddaughter, René Savage and husband Carl, Stratford; grandson, John Rolen, Fittstown; great-grandson, Jakob Savage, Stratford; brother, Carl Wofford, Ada; sisters, Nanna Lou Click and husband Gary, Arlington, Texas, Shirley Jeffries, Wagoner, Ruth Shaw and husband Kenneth, Ada, and June Nemecek and husband Andy, Byng; and many nieces, nephews other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nell; son, Clyde Wofford, Jr.; four brothers, Jess, Earl, Ralph and Ross Wofford; and two sisters, Ruby Standridge and Eveah Shaw.
Bearers were Dale Dacus, Kevin Flowers, Dr. Sam Bryant, Katie Porter, Natasha Scott and Grace Lang.
