The PUBLISHERS Pen
I saw my good friend Danny McDougal this past week and had a great visit. He is one of the most brilliant people I know. The reason I know this is because Danny and I agree on almost every political issue. Our friendship began over half a century ago when he became my banker…. even loaned me some money. I am not sure I ever paid it back but he has either forgotten about it or given up on me.
As some of you know, I recently found a few old Allen newspapers from 1948. Today I want to share a couple more stories from that year…..

Harold, who is a senior in high school, is now a sergeant in the national guard. He enlisted in September, 1946, and went to camp last summer at Fort Sill He plans to take other courses leading to the commission, but since he does not plan to make the army his career he said he would not take enough to receive the commission.
