One Pharmacist’s View
Long Speeches
Donny Johnson says there is no such thing as a bad short sermon. Like most of us, he likes ‘em short. I feel that way about political speeches.
Last week I wrote my very last piece about Donald Trump. I fi gured he “is washed up” and finished. If this was France during the great revolution he would be headed for the chopping block for beheading. But this is America. And trying to keep your eyes off Donald Trump is like trying not to look at a bloody car wreck. Here in America we have a whole slew of politicians gleefully waiting to place the President in the dock, try him for all sorts of crimes such as thievery, malfeasance and treason. Of course, you can’t just impeach him. That would be too good for the likes of Donald Trump. They want him in prison. Nothing less.
But that was before the 2 hour speech he gave last week to a large crowd (CPAP) of his political fans. What kind of political speech? Well, like I said it was 2 hours long. Who can give a long political speech that’s over 2 hours long and still have his crowd bawling for more? Well, Trump did last week. Did he say anything of importance? Well one political analyst, Louis Casiano, wrote of Trump’s long-winded 2 hours speech, “He just won the 2020 election.” An interesting statement for sure. Casiano thinks that Trump did a good job of listing his viewpoints into a platform.
In this speech, largely overlooked by the liberal press (except for its length) Trump held his crowd’s attention and love by outlining his viewpoints in clear fashion. Viewpoints on abortion, second amendment rights (guns), and lowering of taxes. The crowd was already going wild. He then spoke of the energy sector and health care. He made Bernie Sanders look like a tightwad Republican as Trump dwelt on the American Dream (not the nightmare) his opponents were outlining for Americans. He urged his crowd to stand up for America.
Oh, and did he mention the Hijab adorned Ocasio-Cortez Omar? You bet he did. And she alone ought to be good for a lot of Trump votes. Omar was sworn into Congress on the Quran. But why not? She was a Somali born woman from Minnesota’s 5th congressional district--a district producing more terrorists that any other place in America. Trump crowds don’t like her and probably neither do most Americans.
Critics say that Trump’s long speech had little reality to it. That’s OK for Trump has no reality either. He knows when the election comes around the main thing that matters to the voters (even those that don’t like him) is the economy. And reality in America? Americans have been drifting away from reality for the whole 21st century. If Trump can perform like this (like he did last week) against the likes of Bernie Sanders and the crowd of other “me too” socialists lined up against him (and each other) then the election is already over. Finished. Trump has his 2nd term.
If Trump does make a 2nd term, I hope he doesn’t expect me to listen to any 2 hour speeches. Meanwhile, I hope you enjoyed our cold snap this week. And if you were expecting a nice pretty snow, well you can blame it on global warming or something I guess. Or is that what made it so cold?
Anyway, have a good weekend and be sure and go to church Sunday.
