Mustangs Ready for More!!

Coach Greg Mills gave his team encouragement following the loss to Velma-Alma in the opening round of Regional play.

“It was nip and tuck anyway down the stretch. It was a closer game than the actual final score was,” said Allen head coach Greg Mills.

The 62-54 loss sent the Mustangs to the consolation bracket but they have made an outstanding comeback with wins Monday, February 22 nd , over Arcoma (70- 58) and Tuesday over Talihina (75-65).

The Saturday game saw Chad Milne score a teambest 26-points, hitting three 3-points and going 5 or 8 from the free throw line. He also pulled down 11 rebounds, grabbed three steals and had five blocked shots.

Brayden Tatum followed with 19 points, five rebounds and three steals; Gage Holder added seven points for the Mustangs.

On Monday, February 22 nd , the Mustangs traveled to North Rock Creek and scored a 70-58 win over Arkoma. The Mustangs owned the second half outscoring Arkoma 45 to 32. Chad Milne had high point honors with 27, Gage Holder 19 (3-3pointers), Brayden Tatum 18, Tagus Howard 6.

Tuesday advanced to Area with the 75-65 win over Talihina. Milne 32, Brayden Tatum16, Gage Holder 12 (3-3’s), Keithon Howard 7 (2-3’s), Jake Beavert 4 and Coyt Bell 2.

“We are playing with a purpose now, I really like the intensity we have had these last few game”, said Coach Greg Mill. After our close game with a top 10 Velma, seems as our guys decided they can play with anyone. Our defense has really tightened up and our players are seeing each other real well on the court.”

The Mustangs will travel to McLoud this Thursday (tonight) for an 8:00 pm game with Tushka in the opening round of Area play. The remainder of the Area tournament will be played in Shawnee.
